What has shifted is the combination of factors arriving together: above-average overnight lows that prevent homes from cooling down naturally, an aging distribution grid that faces peak demand stress every afternoon, and a national shortage of HVAC technicians that has stretched repair wait times into the multi-week range in some metro areas.
