Middle Class Prepper exists because the existing preparedness internet has two problems. Half of it is built around fear — endless threat scenarios designed to keep you scrolling and buying. The other half is built around tribe — gear culture that mistakes accumulation for readiness. Neither is useful for a family that just wants to be a little more durable than they were last year.

We publish timely reporting throughout the day.

Reporting. What's happening in the economy, in geopolitics, in AI, and in the environment that has plausible household-level implications — and what those implications actually are, separated from the noise.

What we won't do

We won't run threat-of-the-week posts designed to drive panic buying. We won't accept paid placement disguised as editorial. We won't review a product we wouldn't buy ourselves. We won't write content that treats our readers as buyers first and humans second.

If we ever do those things, the right move is to call us on it. Email editor@middleclassprepper.com. We read everything.

SurvivalKnife.AI

This site exists alongside SurvivalKnife.AI, an emergency preparedness app for families. The app lets households build a shared emergency plan together — contact trees, evacuation routes, meeting points, medical notes — and carries offline-ready checklists and guidance that work on your phone even when service doesn't. The team behind Middle Class Prepper is the same team behind SurvivalKnife.AI, and both share the same commitment to clear-eyed, non-alarmist preparedness.

Our standards

Every article cites its sources or names its judgment. Every review discloses affiliate relationships clearly. Every product recommendation is justified by specifics — log reduction values, lab test results, manufacturer specs, real-use experience — not by marketing copy. When we update a review, we say what changed and why. When we make a mistake, we correct it publicly and link to the correction.

We are not unbiased. We have a point of view: that the right amount of preparedness is more than most families do and less than the preparedness internet suggests. We try to be transparent about that bias rather than pretend it doesn't exist.

Contribute

Our team includes contributors writing under the Middle Class Prepper editorial banner, including AI-assisted research and synthesis under editorial review. The site is built in the open on GitHub; the contribution guide explains how qualified writers can pitch and submit. Pitches: pitch@middleclassprepper.com.
